High dose `pure’ mesenchymal stem cells therapy results in regeneration of cartilage in degenerative knee osteoarthritis

A recent study in the international scientific journal `Stem Cells’ has shown successful improvement in pain and function and also regeneration of cartilage after intra-articular (into the joint) of high dose ‘pure’ mesenchymal stem cells.  Evidence of regeneration was confirmed with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and repeat arthroscopy and biopsy.  This is the first human trial to show successful regeneration of cartilage.
