National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC)
The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) has developed two resources on stem cell treatments. The resources provide medical practitioners and patients with information on the stem cell treatments that are available/ It cautions the use of unproven therapies and encourages both patients and clinicians to explore the scientific merit of treatments being offered.
The Australian Stem Cell Handbook
This Handbook has been developed by the National Stem Cell Foundation of Australia, in conjunction with Stem Cells Australia. This booklet discusses how stem cells are currently used in research and in the clinic and assists patients to critically analyse information and to make an informed decision before undertaking stem cell treatment.
International Society for Stem Cell Research
The ISSCR handbook explores the questions that patients may have reqarding stem cell therapies. Whilst published in 2008 and no longer up to date with the most recent literature the handbook remains a useful tool in improving patients knowledge of stem cell therapies.
